Finding Peace In Your Creativity
It’s possible
There’s an enchanted space that exists between your latest creative thought and the output that may come from it. Most times we fill that space with energizer bunny type momentum. We hear phrases like “go all in” and “this is your moment,” repeated and screamed at us and along the way we convince ourselves that chaotic energy is the only way to birth creative output.
Over the last decade though I’ve learned that while chaotic energy can lead to creative output, it does not lead to sustainable output. I don’t think every step of your creative career has to be measured, planned, or calculated to a tee, but I do think that creative output born from peace lasts a lot longer.
You have less to prove and more to show. You’re not doing it just to show someone (whether someone else or yourself) that can, you’re doing it so that you can pour into the part of you that is creative. Your ability to create from a place of peace helps ensure that you won’t burnout. It helps strengthen your resilience so that when you inevitably falter (because we all do), you’ll know how to pick yourself back up with dignity and keep going at a pace that feels sustainable for you.
