Don’t sit in the overwhelm. The only place you’re going to get when you feel this creatively overwhelmed or blocked is down a rabbit hole of your most negative self-talk.

Instead of choosing to think (and maybe even believe) that you suck or that you’re bound to never write a single word ever again, turn to your drafts instead. In a sprint of free thought, open as many new stories as possible and simply jot down titles that come to mind.

Your job isn’t to judge if it’s a good or bad idea, your job is simply to write. Your job is to write the first thing that comes to mind and then move to the next open draft.

Each time you open your drafts to write or create next, you won’t have to sit and stare at a completely blank canvas that stares back at you. Instead, you’ll get to look at half-started canvases that are just waiting for you to create and tell any story you want to.

The act of writing titles isn’t a magic trick, but it is a confidence boost. Too often we tell ourselves that we can’t write or create because we don’t have…
