Do You Wish You Could Treat Your Creativity Like A Business?

Here’s one mindset shift that can help

If you’re older than say 25 years old, there is a good chance that your definition of “creativity” (and by default “being a creative”) was still pretty narrow. You probably believed that in order to break the mold and be creative in your day job you would need to work in advertising, on a TV show, or on the staff at one of the magazines you bought growing up.

Over the last decade our definition of creativity has expanded to include short form videos, personal blogging (from owning your own domain to writing on platforms like Medium) and a slew of other avenues that allow for being the boss to your own creative agency.

Over the last decade though we’ve been slow to shift our mindset to embrace all of those possibilities. Instead of 100% believing that the avenues of creativity could be anything we wanted them to be, we only half believed. The other half of us was still tangled up in believing that we were failing because we didn’t go towards (or succeed at) traditional creative careers.

Those same limiting beliefs that are keeping you holed up in a ditch of your own self-pity are also some of the biggest hurdles to overcome so that you can turn your creative passions into your next business endeavor.
